Double chin
A double chin that shows in every photograph although you have not put on weight — and a neck that has lost its line.
Why does a double chin form?
Fat collects under the chin even in people who are not overweight — it is a matter of heredity and build. With age, neck skin that loses its elasticity and a neck muscle that gives way are added to it. And with a receding chin, a double chin looks bigger than it is, because there is no bone to "carry" it. Neck exercises do not remove fat or skin.

What do we look at during the examination?
A double chin has three possible causes, and the examination separates them: fat under the skin, loose skin and a neck muscle that has given way with age. We also look at the position of the chin and lower jaw, because a small chin makes a double chin more prominent even without excess fat. We look at you from the side, at rest and with your head lowered, and check the skin by pinching it.
Depending on what we find, we suggest liposuction alone, liposuction with skin tightening or, when the cause is the position of the chin, we talk about a chin implant. Profile photographs are taken at the examination and used for comparison at check-ups.

When the procedure is done under sedation or general anaesthesia, the anaesthesia is led by a specialist in anaesthesiology, resuscitation and intensive care who works full time at the clinic.
In the operating theatre, the surgeon is assisted by head nurse Martina Šereg, with the help of nurses Kristina Jurešić and Mateja Tomorad, and in recovery the care assistant Mirjana Kovačić is with you. Martina also looks after preparation, scheduling and contact after the procedure.

Frequently asked questions
Does a double chin come back? Fat cells that have been removed do not come back. The remaining tissue follows body weight, and the skin keeps changing with age.
What if the skin is loose? Liposuction removes fat, not skin. When the skin is loose, tightening is needed — this is judged at the examination.
Does losing weight help? In younger people with good skin, losing weight often reduces the double chin as well. After forty, and with loose skin, losing weight can make the double chin more visible, because there is less fat and the same amount of skin.
Can a double chin come from the thyroid or lymph nodes? An enlarged thyroid and enlarged lymph nodes are found lower on the neck and feel like a lump, not like a soft fullness under the chin. If we find a lump at the examination, we first recommend an ultrasound, not a procedure.
What is double chin liposuction like? Double chin liposuction is done under local anaesthesia and takes 45 to 60 minutes, and you go home straight away.
How long is the recovery after double chin liposuction? Sick leave is 2 to 5 days, you can go out in public after 1 to 3 days, and you return to training after 2 weeks. The final result is seen after 3 months.
How much does double chin liposuction cost? Double chin liposuction costs €1,000–1,200, depending on the extent of the procedure. The price includes check-ups in the first three months and dressing changes.
